Deirdre Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

Deirdre Reynolds was a devoted Suzuki piano teacher, accomplished pianist, and wonderful collaborator. She co-founded the Seneca Suzuki School of Music, which evolved into the North York Suzuki School of Music. Deirdre played many important roles in our program: piano teacher, toddler class teacher, director, accompanist, theory teacher, and was a general fountain of wisdom and enthusiasm.

After a long and brave fight with cancer, our wonderful colleague and dear friend passed away in May 2009. Throughout her life, she was an inspiration to countless students and their families. Deirdre was a pillar of the Greater Toronto Area Suzuki communities, and a wonderful mentor and inspiration to everyone around. Her enthusiasm for the Suzuki method was always apparent; her passion for teaching resonated deeply throughout everything she did.

In her memory, the North York Suzuki School of Music has established a scholarship in her name. This scholarship's purpose is to assist NYSSM students attend a Suzuki summer institute. The insitute must be approved by the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
